Fanox C9 — Basic Motor Protection Relay
The Fanox C9 is a compact, DIN rail-mounted motor protection relay designed for 3-phase low-voltage motors in the 1.5–4 kW (2–5.5 hp) range. Manufactured by Fanox since 1992, the C9 combines precise thermal image simulation with instant phase loss detection — protecting motors against the most common causes of premature winding failure.
Key Protection Functions
- Thermal image memory — continuously models motor heating and cooling cycles including start-up, overloads, and rest periods; retains memory during power outages
- Phase loss protection — detects phase loss even at reduced load (below 30% FLA) when conventional bimetallic relays fail to trip
- Phase imbalance protection — trips when imbalance exceeds 40%
- Phase sequence protection — prevents reverse rotation damage
- Trip class selection — Class 10, 20, and 30 per IEC 947-4-1
Trip Cause Indication
LED indicators on the relay front panel identify the specific trip cause instantly — overload, phase loss, or phase imbalance — eliminating guesswork and reducing downtime during fault investigation.
